John Singleton (2 Fast 2 Furious) has signed to direct Abduction, a thriller starring teen sensation Taylor Lautner.

Lionsgate acquired the rights last month for nearly $1 million, which included the script by Shawn Christensen and Lautner attached as a producer and the lead. Shooting starts this July in Pittsburgh for an unknown release date, reports Variety.

The story centers on a high school student who discovers his own picture on a missing persons website. His search for answers starts a dangerous chain of events that makes him a fugitive from KGB operatives with a score to settle, a bounty hunter tracking him down, and the police.

I wrote a script review with more details last month, which you can read right here.

Based on the schedule, this will be Lautner’s next film before returning in mid-October for the final installment(s) of the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn, with co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Lautner is also set to star in Stretch Armstrong based on the Hasbro toy. Ladies, cross your fingers he’s shirtless in at least one of these movies.
